As hinted in the title of the course, the class is focused on examining fairy tales and their adaptations throughout time. Although we read many different fairy tales from a wide range of sources, one book we rely on for how the original tales were told is <i>The Annotated Brothers Grimm<\/i>. This book is a collection of various German fairy tales as told by the brothers Grimm. <i>The Annotated Brothers Grimm<\/i> also includes annotations of the fairy tales by Maria Tatar. The fairy tales include: \u201cCinderella,\u201d \u201cLittle Red Riding Hood,\u201d \u201cSnow White,\u201d and \u201cRapunzel,\u201d and many, many more. The Grimm brothers were known for their unoriginal tellings of these fairy tales. Although, this is a collection of &#8220;children and household tales&#8221;, you will likely be surprised when reading some of these tales. I enjoy reading a fairy tale here and there when I&#8217;m not busy with school work. One of my favorite fairy tales in the <i>Brothers Grimm<\/i> is &#8220;Rumpelstiltskin.&#8221; If you enjoy reading fairy tales, or are looking for a bit of a break, I would definitely recommend this collection of fairy tales!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This semester I am taking an English class called &#8220;Fairy Tales and Retellings&#8221;.
