A Spot of Bother
By: Mark Haddon

This book is well worth the trek to the 4th floor of Hubbard Hall. Written by the author of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time (another favorite of mine), it is the story of George Hall’s attempt to adjust to life after retirement. All the guy wants to do is listen to a little jazz, build a shed in his garden so he can start painting, and enjoy life. His wife, daughter, and son all contribute to the events interfering with his quiet little nervous breakdown. Just wait for the post-wedding reception scene. That’s all I’m going to say, I don’t want to ruin your anticipation. Who knew life crises could be so funny?
